Karnataka Rivers

South Indian geography can be divided into two region

        1. Western Ghats
        2. Easter Ghats

"Ghat" means the mountain ranges of typically high altitude (Compared to other places) geographically unique, which attracts clouds and brigs rain and influences a lot in wind flow and controls overall natural resource distribution.

Western ghats starts from Tamilnadu state of south India to Rajasthan state of North india, where the end of ghat does not have much dens forest.

Most of the dense forest and sensitive region of the western ghats is in Karnataka, Goa and Maharastra states. This ghat section is birth place of many rivers, which form a life line of all living body of the states.

Karnataka have wester ghats which is very sensitive area such as Kudremukh forest range, which is close to chikkamagalur district, where smal changes in earth environment is reflected in plants growth and have potential to change echo system of the south India, including mansson which control the life of the entire Indian.

Like any other places in the planet earth, karnataks is rich in natural resources, like water, ores. There are many river, some of the rivers which flows via many states, of course, helps many people and creates water distribution issues in a region.

There are many rivers which take birth in karnataka and ends its journey in karnataka by joining Arabian sea. Because of this, the region has utilized the water of these rivers completely by constructing reservoirs, barrages, check dams and use this for irrigation and power generation, including nuclear thermal power plant. But sad part of this is, the water from these collected rivers are being used for Majorly power generation and not for any agricultural activity, of course the geography and the short length of the river bed made it is difficult to use for irrigation. And as in other part of the world, very less water flows into see at any point of time in a year and posing a very serious challenges to existence and survival of  river dependent plats, fishes, animals.

Since I like to know more about geography and i live in karanataks, it is very natural for me to have urge to understand local geography.

I have used Google maps to build/mark rivers which is part of karnataka region and the reservoir constructed in the region.

The maps has information about most of the (90%) rivers birth place and which place it joins other rivers and the reservoir on river flow path.

Below are the maps which i created

1. Karnataka Rivers
2. Karnataka dams/reservoir
3. Combined Karnataka Rivers Layer and Reservoir layer which help to understand overall water distribution

I am working on to have Lakes, small ponds and Lake interconnect lanes in Google maps, soon i will publish here to share with all.

Upanishath

There are many author written about upanishads. Some of the writer explain what they have understood and their interpretation and some of the writer just translate the shloka to the nearest meaning in particular language.

It is up to the reader what kind of explanation or knowledge they are expecting from any book.

But it is also true that, especially in upanishaths, apart from just translation, we need some explanation about how the shloka can be interpreted so that the reader can think in that direction and develop their own way of understanding and relating it to real life.

Just i have tried here to list out some of the good books name and link to the same. There are couple of web sites where the give complete work in PDF, free of cost, and they expect nothing. Even interested one can listen also.

Quotes in software world

Every one must have heard Murphy law. I find this law is really good.

Here i am just listing some of the quotes i find interesting and i would like to start it from Murphy's law

" Things will go wrong in any given situation, if you give them a chance"
"If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong"

Other quotes that i like are...

"After months of training and you finally understand all of a programs commands, a revised version arrives with an all new command structure"

Some developer can say below sentence

"That's not a "bug", thats a feature ! "

"Bugs will appear in one part of a working program when another 'unrelated' part is modified"
"At least one bug will be observed after the author leaves the organization"
"If such a program has not crashed yet, it is waiting for a critical moment before it crashes"
"Software bugs are impossible to detect by anybody except the end user"
"When something goes does go wrong, it won't be the thing you expected"
"In any "complete list", the most important item will be left off"
"The maintenance engineer will never have seen a model quite like yours before"
"It is axiomatic that any spares required will have just been discontinued and will be no longer in stock"
"If a circuit requires n components, then there will be only n - 1 components in locally-held stocks"
"Logic is a systematic method of coming to the wrong conclusion with confidence"
"Technology is dominated by those who manage what they do not understand"

Too good one... is

"When all else fails, read the instructions"
